How does one keep the task pane from automatically opening w/ the

The task pane automatically opens in the MS applications. I want to turn this
"feature" off. Anyone know how? Thanks

If you've already tried going to Tools/Options/View and turned off
"Show Startup task pane" and it still displays on starting then here's
an article that contains a link to an add-in you can use to help
control your task pane:
