how does sound run continuously in a powerpoint presentation?

Does anyone know how to run sound continuously through a powerpoint
presentation? My audio file seems to stop and start on every slide!

In that case, can you spell out exactly what you tried and exactly what
it is doing? Also, include detailed information about what version of
PowerPoint (including service packs) and what version of Windows you are
running.
