An icon has appeared which looks like a backward "P" at the beginning of each
word and remains at the end of each sentence when I use Outlook. I have seen
it in the Office Word toolbar but not in Outlook. I wish to remove it. Can
anyone help me please.

Hi Jane,

It sounds like you are using Microsoft Word as your default editor for
Outlook. Do you see the same backward "P" symbols if you open a Word
document? There are settings in Word, under Tools > Options | on the View tab
for displaying formatting marks. If any of these are checked, try clearing
them.

Please be aware that the newsgroup to which you posted,
microsoft.public.access, is for questions related to the database software
known as Microsoft Access. You will likely get a better answer by posting to
microsoft.public.outlook.

Thanks to both responders as I was having the same problem in Outlook. I
checked Word first and the formatting boxes were not checked. However, when
I followed the same rules you provided in Outlook under Tool - Options - View
I found the culprits, unchecked the boxes and was able to remove those
dastardly formatting marks.
