Hi mclagrima,
There are several situations where you might legitimately need your Product
key, however no one here on the newsgroup is able to provide it for you.
Anyone low-life that does, is probably trying to steal your money. So, if
any of these situations fit, use the product number from your Microsoft
software license or contact them to get a new one (probably for a fee).
If you reinstalled the software (due to a hardware crash) than you can use
the Product code provided with the installation CD (or from the download
site). Really take the time to make sure you can not find it before calling
MS.
If your EULA allows for installing the software onto a portable and your
desktop (not all do), than again, use the CD product code.
If you purchased the software on-line and the vendor did not supply you with
this, you may have been scammed. Some less than reputable people will sell
copies of the software, but not include a license (with a product key). If
this is the case, you will need to purchase the software from a legitimate
source.
If you ...
... bought the software legitimately, but lost the product key
information
... re-installed the software from an OEM, and they did not supply the
information
... downloaded the trial version and now need to get the full install
-- then you have to call Microsoft customer support.
