How is BCWP calculated

We are looking at calculating earned value using project and the BCWP and
ACWP fields. We have heard that BCWP is calculated as a % of duration
complete rather than % of work complete. Can someone please verify or clarify
this for me?

Also, if BCWP is calculated as % of duration complete, is ACWP calculated
the same way?

Hover your mouse over the column title for BCWP and then click on the Help
on BCWP link. This takes you to the correct help page and a description of
how BCWP is calculated. Do the same for ACWP.

Good MSP does calculate following WORK performed as it should and
as is described in the help file.

Not so good it's not at all straightforward to enter actual data
for work and duration in a way that one value will not keep changing
the other. I.e. that you will be able to record a difference between
%duration complete and %work complete.

There have been a few threads about this lately (search for "duration"
"work" "separate"). I would recommend you perform a full trial run on
your favorite sequence with updating a project file before you apply EV
to a "live" plan.
