how long does it take to make a mde fil?

I am trying to make a mde file of a database with Tables, forms, reports,
macros and VB. Is it reasonable for this to take several hours?

Even for a large application, 1 minute would be around the max time here.

the process occurs quite fast.

I would first do a compact and repair.

I would then also whack ctrl-g, and bring up the he code window, and then do
a compile project.

The above two steps will ensure that you can create a mde. If you get any
compile errors in step 2 above, then you can't create the mde.

However, as mentioned, to create the mde, you go tools->database
utilities->make mde file.

The process does not take much longer then it takes to do compact and
repair.

Are you trying to make a mde, and your computer is freezing/stopping? Or,
perhaps are you just mistaken about the whole process here of what is
involved to make a mde file?

Do feel free to expand on your question. Also, it does help if you mention
what version of ms-access you are using here.

Albert could easily be Australian using slang like that! Whack means "hit"
or "strike". So "whack ctrl + G" means to press those keys on your keyboard.

BTW, nice website Albert.... I wish we had snow like that in Oz :(

I believe Albert is Canadian, not an Aussie.

Yep, I believe that also (I checked out his web site).

I was merely making fun of the fact that us Aussies use a lot of slang!

No. A few seconds, typically.

One of mine take a few minutes. But it's about 30 Mb which would be
larger than normal.
