How long will items in Activity tab be displayed and available?

I'm running outlook 2002. If i do not autoarchive any folders how long will
items under a contacts activities tab be visible and available to retreive?
I often quote customers through email and need to know the best way to save
them. I haven't been saving them to another folder because I thought i could
always access them through the activities tab under the particular contact i
quoted through email..but i see past months are no longer there. If i don't
auto archive will they/should they remain in activities tabs indefinitely?
Help please. Any suggestions on the safest way to save emails sent for
future reference would be appreciated.

As long as the corresponding items continue to be stored in the folders that are searched by the activity group. If they're archived, they'll be in other folders and not visible in the Activities view.

Thanks for quick response..i wasn't sure my message posted. So if i turn
"sent" folder archiving off...those emails sent to contacts will remain
forever under the contacts activity tab? And for those emails i receive from
contacts will remain under their respective activity tabs if what...i turn
off archiving for my inbox? Is that correct? You may have solved a 6 hour
search for clarification on this...thank you.

Another thing...if i do archive...is there an easy way to search for info
that was under a contacts activities tab? i.e. if i'm looking for all email
from/to one particular contact in archived folders is there a quick way?
And, is it necessary to archive for space reasons? Or do people turn it off
so they can do as i need,,to retrieve info specific to a contact?

I'd suggest that you download and install the free Lookout search utility. You can have it search both current and archive folders, just by typing in the name of a contact.

People who archive do it for space, performance, and aesthetic reasons.
