How many CPU supported

Hi,

I was talking to a MSDN regional director the other day when he said that Project Server only uses 1 CPU so there is no point in recommending customers to buy a dual CPU server. Is this true?

On the other hand, Microsoft Config Planning guide has some Config Profile using 2 even 4 CPUs....

I'm confused. Can someone tell me the truth.

Hi,
Perhaps he meant that the Views Service can only use one CPU. Other
applications can use the other CPU while the Views Service is filling up the
first. I suggest you reconsider and use two CPUs.

Here's the scoop, as really tall told you, certain components of the
solution cannot take advantage of multiple processors, however the operating
system certainly can. While the Views Notification service is running it
tends to bind to the second processor which leaves the first free other
operations such as IO operations and serving up web pages to name only a
couple. So, the number of processors matters unless you're configuring one
member server, in a server farm, to run only the one service. Going from two
to four processors really makes a difference for SQL server. The standard
edition can use up to four processors. This makes a noticable difference in
many processor intensive operations, such as building an OLAP cube, but only
matters if you've got a high-volume implementation.

As far as I know, there aren't any MS regional directors who have anything
more than surface knowledge of this application.
