Before we install microsoft xp on our computer , i was able to tell what was
left in the black and white and colour cartridge through printer properties.
Now since we got XP we cannot tell anymore and we have replace both
cartridges at the same time even though it is not neccessary. is there a way
you can tell which cartridge needs to be replaced without resorting to guess
'oh the colour is out or vice versa.

Hi,
This is more of a windows question than an access
question.
you problem may be more related to the printer's software
than to windows. visit your printer manufacture's website
and check for known issues relating to upgrading to xp.
also visit the xp website.
good luck.

You may need to reinstall the printer driver software that came with
your printer, or install a different version of that software that is
designed for Windows XP. If the printer is old, you may have to visit
the manufacturer's web site to look for a new driver.

Note that this newsgroup is actually for questions about Microsoft
Access, the database program, and not for general Windows questions of
this sort.

I've noted that on my Canon the message shows up a long time before the
cartridge actually needs replacement.
My guide is a bad printing.
