How the heck to I

I am using Word 2007 and am not a happy camper so far. I don't really like
the way it looks and it is not as user friendly as before, but nonetheless, I
do have a question. In the previous versions of word, I could use Autotext
and type in certain things like my name or address or other phrases that I
use on a regual basis and when I would type in the first few letters, the
entire phrase would pop up in a little box and if I hit enter, the phrase
would be put into my document. I can't seem to find how to do that in the
new Word. Can someone please tell me.

Hi NCAttorney,

For finding your way around Office 2007 the interactive, viewable and printable 'where did that go' guides may be helpful.

In Word 2007 the features tied to the AutoText Engine have been greatly expanded, with AutoText now being only one of 36 galleries
for reusable boilerplate (Document Building Blocks/Document Parts) that are available from the Ribbon or Quick Access Toolbar, but
the one feature turned off by Microsoft with that functional expansion was the 'Autocomplete Suggestions' feature for AutoText.

Each gallery shows a preview of the actual entry if you're visually oriented and use the mouse and you can organize the boilerplate
into your own categories in whichever galleries you choose to use. If you know the first few characters of an entry you can type it
and use F3 (also available in Word 2003) to pop in the 'AutoText' entry, and you can also assign a keyboard shortcut to any AutoText
or

With hundreds of entries shipping with Word using the Autotext engine (from coverpages to equations, footers and headers and more)
it's likely that there would be a performance hit in Word for it to watch that many more 'things' and that it could also have been
likely that it would be popping up suggestions a lot more than folks might find helpful :)

Folks are hopeful that the Autocomplete suggestion feature may return in the next version. You might consider putting some commonly
used entries into AutoCorrect instead. That will automatically replace typed text with the boilerplate and if you don't want it you
can immediately use Ctrl+Z to undo the autoreplacement.
