How to a find the length of rotated line?

Word 2002 gives the "size" of a rotated line in terms of the lengths of the two lines that would form a right-triangle with the line. I don't want to have to use Pythagoras to determine the length of a rotated line. I've tried unrotating the line, so that it's parallel to the horizontal or vertical axis, but that's fiddly. Any suggestions?

G'day "gfackelmann" <[email protected]>,

Word rasterizes EVERYTHING. True vector objects are ripped to an
onscreen bitmap and that's all you can really play with. Thus
Pythagoras and our other trigonometric friends are here to stay :)
