How to add a counter

In my Excel spreadsheet (Ofice XP) I need to begin with a 6 digit number
120947 in cell C1; and insert numbers in the entire C column incrementing
each number by 1, like a counter. There are over 600 and I would rather not
key them all.

Can anyone tell me how to do this?
