How to add a custom text field to calendar view instead of task na

J

I would like to print or view a calendar that shows a custom text field for
the task instead of task name.

My project involves several iterations of the same tasks so I created a text
field calculated as "[event]+[task name]" that essentially puts a prefix in
front of the task name so I know what iteration-task the calendar is
referring to (the 'event' field is a text field such as 'OLB1', 'OLB2',
'OLB3'). There may be 2 or 3 different iterations of a task in the same
calendar month.

The team would like to be able to print one calendar instead of having to
page through a different calendar for each iteration.

Any suggestions?

1) Go to the Calendar View
2) Right click on the view, and choose Bar Styles
3) For All tasks, select the text option for the custom Text field

That should do it.....

Thank you :)

Hey, I was thinking of creating a master project and having each iteration
be a sub-project. If I attach my resource pool to the master project, would
I then be able to print a calendar for the master project filtered such that
all tasks from each subproject assigned to a resource can be printed on ONE
calendar? Or would it print each subproject on a separate calendar?

I just got that to work by creating a Master Project, creating a resource
list there, and then sharing its resource pool w/ the subprojects. Takes
a bit of finagling but seemed to work.

The only thing you would need to do then is open the Master Project, go to
the Calendar View and apply the appropriate filter (Projects > Filter for
Using Resource).

You could probably also create a custom View w/ the filter applied, or play
around w/ the reports to generate an automated printout of each resource's
tasks.

If I already have the resources in a separate pool, what steps do I need to
take with the master and each of the subprojects in order to switch the
resource pool from the separate file to that of the master? How do I switch
the links? I do not want to accidentally screw up...
