how to add a tempate to a word doc?

Word confused

easy question. I have a word doc. I have a template (.dot) I want to move
all thee text from my word doc to the template. how is this done?

What *exactly* are you trying to do?

If you want to put text from the document in the template, then open both
and copy from one to the other.

I think you want to turn a document into a template?

If that's the case, then save the document as a template. You'll find Word
Template in the Files of Type drop down at the bottom of the Save As dialog
box.
