How to add contacts to new emails (Lastname, Firstname)?

Our Exchange server is setup to show the GAL names in the format Lastname,
Firstname. When I try to enter a name as Firstname Lastname, the name is
never found and I have to search thru the list for each name. The reason I
put Firstname Lastname is coz I know the person's first name and a few
letters of their lastname.

Is there a way I can setup my Outlook client so that I can enter Firstname
Lastname and the Exchange server recognises the name?

Once you enter the name with FN LN, have you tried using Alt+K to resolve
the name against the Exchange GAL? Is the GAL set as your default address
book for contacts?

Alt-K is my problem. It is after pressing Alt-K that the names in the To
fields are not found because I'm using FN LN and the GAL is setup in LN, FN
(note the comma).

I *think* the GAL is the default address book- the only way I can tell is
when I open the Address Book and the GAL is listed first.

What version of Exchange is this? Our system is set up as Last,First, and
names resolve for me whether I do "las f" or "fir la" or anything similar.
I can even do "f l" and get all names that match in either order.

Most of this I didn't even know until my curiosity was piqued by your
message. My usual approach up till now has been to type three or four
letters of the last name and then hit Tab. That either gives me a match
or a very short list to pick from.
