How to add cost expended, cost allowed, hours expended without actual resources

I have a spreadsheet from excel with numbers such as start and end date
% complete, % funds expended, hours expended, dollars authenticated, an
dollars expended, travel costs, subcontractor costs, and amount invoice
and amount paid but with no actual resources. I need to put this int
project.

My problem besides being relatively new to project is that I do no
know how to put that data in without supplying the actual resources i
the resource sheet. (which i do not have) I can do things such as star
and end date, and percent complete but after that it gets much mor
challenging for me. Any guidance on how I would go about doing thi
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Scot

First, before going any further, why do you want to put this data in
Project. You state you have all that data in Excel ... most of which we
would be expecting Project to compute *for* you, e.g. start date, end
date, etc. I don't quite understand what you get out using Project.

There is really no value in putting all this info into Project if you
already know the schedule, cost, and status. If your purpose is to get
a Gantt Chart view of the project, you are better off using Excel or
Visio (or something similar) to do that.

That being said, a great way to figure out how to get info from Excel
into Project is to first create small plan in Project with the
information you want to import. Then export that info out to Excel.
Inspect the result and then put your date into that same exact format
and then import it.

I forgot to mention that I am entering tasks that have already bee
completed. All my numbers are exact numbers and can not be changed. No
really sure what to do

If the tasks have already been completed, what's the point of entering them
into Project??? The software is designed to schedule FUTURE work, not
report PAST work. While it certainly does do reporting, don't get me wrong,
it is reporting the schedule as updated with actuals. The end result is
similar to what you've already got in your Excel worksheets. Since you've
already got the numbers that you would generate reports in Project to
discover, why bother running them through Project?
