How to auto-scale images in catalog merge

I'm using 2010 version of publisher. I am trying to create a catalog that includes pictures along with descriptions. The images that I have publisher pulling are different sizes. When I print preview publisher does not automatically scale the images so that the full image shows if it larger than the picture area I specified on my template.

Is there a way to have publisher automatically scale the images down to the specified size when you insert images for a catalog merge?
