How to change a control source for a report

I am working in an old DB with old reports that I did not create. I need to
make a minor change in a report to include more info. I tried to make a
change in the control source but have not been successful. How do I change
the control source?
I am a total Access novice and am trying by trial and error.

< I tried to make a change in the control source but have not been
successful.>

1. What did you do?

2. What do you mean by "have not been successful"?

Assuming you are talking about a control on a report, whatever you are
trying to change the control source to must be a field in the recordsource
of the report.

-- I will try to explain. I have a report that I need to make a minor
change to by drawing an addtl piece of info from my DB. I opened it in design
view and clicked on the line I want to change.

I clicked on properties, which opens the text box and shows the control
source for the line in the report I want to change. But the addtl
information I want to add does not appear in the list to choose from. My
question is how to change the control source? Is that drawn from a query?
If so, how do I change the source from say query A to query B which DOES
include all the information?

See if this answers your question ...........
Open the report in design view. Open properties. At the top is a dropdown
list showing the object you want properties of. If it does not show
"Report", scroll down and select Report so "Report" shows in the box.Click
on the data tab. Use the arrow at the right of the Recordsource property to
dropdown a list of possible recordsources. Select Query B. Now select the
field in your report you want to change. The control source property should
appear under the Data tab. Use the arrow at the right and select the field
from Query B you want for the recordsource.
