How to change ruler from 72pt to inches

Just recently I opened up Microsoft Word and the ruler had gone from the
normal measurement in inches to that of 72pt. Interestingly, I uninstalled
Word and reinstalled it, hoping that the factory settings would take care of
it, but after opening Word again it remained at the 72pt setting. How do I
change it back to the traditional setting of inches?
