how to change slide after animations....

I have a slide that has four buttons.
One for each catagory I want to display on a new slide.
When you click on the (autoshape) button the button rises to top of the page
and then returns to the bottom. a vertical bar then appears and also a
horizontal
bar that states the catagory.
What I want to do is then have the slide jump to the appropriate "new" slide
and
display it. I tried to use the custom show but it would not transistion to
the slide
after clicking the button. I also tried a hyperlink but it jumps before the
animation.
I hope this is clear enough..lol...

Could this work?

Make the buttons hyperlink to slides one before the target slide. Make these
slides duplicates of the first slide with the appropriate animation running
automatically (with previous) and the a timed transition to the next slide.

Hope that makes sense.
