How to change tab control background color?

I cannot figure out how to change the background color of the tab controls.
They keep coming up white and there is no option to change it to a different
color. Am I missing something?

I believe that the actual color of those controls is dictated by the
background color setup in the Windows Display Properties. When working
with colors on forms the trick is I think to layer different object of
different colors that you can assign.
