how to change the type of office data file to personal data file

Hi,

Could you guide how to change the type of file, the scenario is i used to
save all the important mails in archive folder. Now the archive.pst has been
saved as archive.ost. so i am not able to open it. Pls do the needful since i
am having more than 2 yrs data on that. Version of my outlook - 2003.

That's... odd. OSTs are strictly used for local storage of an online message
store, a mirror if you will. Outlook wouldn't archive to an OST, and wouldn't
even be able to change a PST to an OST. It isn't part of the program, unless
I missed an important chapter.

I'm going to assume that despite the file being so important, you don't have
a backup of it?
When was the last time you were able to open it?
Have you made a copy of the OST, tried renaming that copy to .pst and see
if that could open?
Have you searched your entire hard drive for *.pst, being sure to search
for hidden and system files and folders?
What type of server are you connecting to?
How have you been saving your important mail to the archive?
