How to chart nonzero values?

Greetings,

Just a quick question to the group - I often have columnar data that
has nonzeo values in the x-column and was wondering how I can generate
a line or scatter chart that doesn't keep jumping back down to zero
every time y(x) = 0. Is there a way to "skip" the zeroes or only plot
the nonzero values over the same range? It would make my life a lot
easier to know. Thanks!

1) Select the chart
2) Tools => Options => Chart => Plot empty cells as interpolated

Then select a suitable chart type. You might have to test more than one,
e.g. not all line charts produce the desired effect.

Alternatively, replace the 0 (or blanks) by =NA(). These display as #N/A
which the chart engine ignores. As have a formula =IF(something, then_f(x),
NA() )
best wishes

Hi there,

That sounds like my best option. I basically want straight line
segments in my x-y charts that, if y(x) = 0, ignore it
and just connect y(x1) and y(x2) with a straight line. I didn't want
to make a sub-table that extracts only the nonzero
y(x)'s just for plotting purposes. I will try your suggestion.

Thanks,
Mike
