How to convert a background back into powerpoint proper?

I have a ppt file where the presentation material had been converted as the
slide's background. I need to convert this back into the presentation proper
so that I can format the presentation and the needed animation.

Sonia.... I'm guessing that each slide "content and all" is one complete
bitmap.

That was my guess too, but before delivering the bad news I thought I would
check.
