how to copy, do something else, THEN paste?

I don't ever want to see the clipboard, be asked about it or anything like
that.

But it seems like when I copy something to the clipboard in any other MS
office application, I can paste it, do a bunch of stuff, paste it again, etc
- it stays on on the clipboard until either I hit escape or copy/cut
something else. It's even like this in excel when I'm pasting from somewhere
else. And in VBE, or when I copy from the formula window.

But when I copy a cell or range, it seems that almost ANYTHING I do knocks
it off the clipboard. Copy, type a formula in a different cell, try to paste
and there's nothing there. Copy, choose context menu, accidentally choose
'format cells' instead of paste-special, reopen context menu, there's nothing
on the clipboard.

Is there any way to fix this?

To the best of my knowledge - NO, it is not possible.

I will be happy to be proved wrong.
