HOW to COUNT THE FREQUENCY of specific CHARACTER WITHIN a CELL?

How can a frequency of a specific character be counted with in a cell. Ex -"
#4 Bluebirds, #6 Aquatic" is in cell B2 - how do I count the number of "#"
that appear in cell B2?
