Need a way to create a page number with format 100.1.

In the footer, I can create 100.{PAGE}. But the 100 does not appear in the
TOC.

Hi

This is possible, but you may have to cheat a little.

The broad principle is that Word can create page numbers like this (eg
100.1, or 2-7). For the first part of the number (here, 100 or 2), Word
picks up a number from one of the heading styles. Word terms this kind of
page numbering as "chapter numbering". Only when you use Word's "chapter
numbering" will the Table of Contents be correct.

So, we have to find a way to use the "chapter numbering" even though you
only have one "chapter".

Option 1. If you have headings in your document that include the 100 (eg
headings you want to be numbered 100.1, 100.2 etc), then you can use Word's
built-in numbering to number the headings. Normally, of course, numbering
would start with 1. So normally you might have headings like 1, 1.1, 1.1.,
2, 2.1 etc. But you can tell Word to start the numbering at 100, rather than
at 1.

If you do have headings like this, then set up the headings as described at:

document

Now for the page numbering. The following article explains how to set up
"chapter numbering":

I want to include the chapter number with the page number in the
Header - how can I do this?

Option 2. If you don't have any headings in your document that use "100",
then you'll have to fake it. Set up one of the built-in heading styles
numbered to start with 100, as described in the heading numbering article
given above. Put one paragraph in this style at the top of your document.
Modify the style to make it hidden. And at Tools > Options > Print, make
sure you've turned off the printing of hidden text.

You will now be able to use the "chapter" page numbering, even though
there's only one paragraph in the appropriate heading style, and it's
hidden. But that will be enough to let Word pick up the "100", and it will
then appear correctly in the table of contents.

Hope this helps.
