I'd like to create a word document, save it as a pdf that I can edit as
necessary. I currently have Office 2003.

Hi Paho,

PDF files are not intended to be editable as Word .document files. To do so you basically need a PDF manipulation program that can
convert the text and graphics back into an editable document for use in Word.

If you're concerned about others making changes in the document, maintain
the document in Word but distribute it as a PDF.

(Though that won't prevent someone who's determined from changing it.)

If you're REALLY concerned about others making changes in the document,
print it out as an image (JPG etc) file and distribute that.

(But even that won't prevent someone who's REALLY determined from changing
it, though it will make it harder.)

It's much easier to change a Word file than a .pdf file. (I know - I use
Acrobat. Word's easier!)
