How to create repeating data in a form text field to another text

I'm using Word 2000. I've created a form with lots of text fields. I need the
entry in the first text field to repeat in several other fields. I've used
the following formats to try and get the data to repeat but I keep getting
the errror message "Bookmark error"

{RefText1}, { Ref Text1 }, {reftext1}, etc - nothing works - any
suggestions
