How to delete? Blocking and hitting delete wont work,but used to..

I have used "word" for years and have not had this problem until today. When
I block a word or sentence and then hit the "delete" key it does not dete the
blocked text. In the bottom left of the screen it says "Delete Block? No
(Yes). I tried hitting "yes" but nothing hapened. This is frustrating.
Help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, RFOlson. In Word, click on Tools | Options | General | uncheck the two
boxes for WordPerfect help and navigation | OK.
