How to delete e-mails and not just cross them out?

How do I set outlook up so it puts messeges in the trash when I hit delete
and not just crosses them out?

Sounds like you are using IMAP, if so you have to use the Purge Deleted
Message command from the Edit to get rid of the messages, this is how IMAP
works.
