How to Deregister MS Office

I've bought a used Mac which previously had MS Office on it - I have deleted
the previous copy and installed my own, but the previous owners rego info
appears on the splash screen. How do I delete this so it will accept my
info?

I'd probably be inclined to run Remove Office from the Value Pack on
the install CD, then reinstall Office, apply the updates, then
repair disk permissions. But that's because I'm paranoid about how
someone else did their installation.

An alternative is to delete these files (with all Office apps
closed):

~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Microsoft Office Settings (10)
HD/Applications/Microsoft Office X/Office/OfficePID

(where ~ is your home directory). The latter file is hidden, so
you'll need to use the Finder's Find command. Add a search
criterion: Visibility: invisible items.

Start up an Office app and you'll be asked for your new key.
