How to disable auto mail downloads during startup?

When I start Outlook, it immediately contacts my mail server and
downloads my email. I want to disable this action, so that Outlook
downloads emails only when I command it. How do I do this?

While viewing your Inbox, press Alt-Ctrl-S and uncheck the box labeled
"Schedule and automatic send/receive every". Also click Tools>Options>Mail
Setup and uncheck "Send immediately when connected".
