how to disable browser menu options

Sean

Hello and thanks for reading this.

I am currently developing a content based website for my
office. Basically it is a number of pages that are
accessed (by anyone within the office network) from a main
menu, they offer help and advice on solving problems and
general proceedures that people need to know.

The problem that I have is that after creating the pages
and loading them onto the main server, the user can edit
the page by selecting file - edit from the toolbar at the
top of the screen. A colleague did this in error yesterday
meaning the page had to be reloaded. I do keep a backup
copy :)

My question is, how can i disable functions within the
file menu? I have searched frontpage help without success
and I cannot set the page to "read only" from page
properties etc.

Any ideas?

Thanks again.

Sean

Tom,

Thanks for the quick reply, the answer to your question
is........ i dont know! I'm presuming that permissions are
set by our network chaps. Because our department is a
small one and the web I develop and maintain is only
accessed by people within the department, the IE window
that they open is not part of their domain and falls
outside the permissions? (does this make sense?)

I think its going to be down to me to set access
permissions on the web pages I create to stop this. But I
cant find how. I cannot locate "read only" in page
properties etc.

Is there something I can add to the style sheet that will
affect all the pages in the web and make them read only?

Cheers

Sean

First question is: Why do these other people have authoring permissions
allowing them to change anything?

Mike,

Thanks for the reply,

I cant see how to do this. Right clicking on the file and
selecting properties doesnt give the option. And I cant
see anywhere else to do this.

Cheers

You can set the files to read only using Windows Explorer.
