How to display the "values" included in a formula vs. the cells?

How do you display the "values" being included in a formula vs. the cell names?

I believe the best you can do is individually select the
different components of your formula (which could be a
cell reference, a range reference, a SUM formula, etc.)
and press F9 to calculate.
