How to do an 's in HTML

A

aRKay

i post a number of email message to Yahoo Groups
and learned the hard way to NEVER (ever) use the
Entourage plain text due to the non standard
addition of CR's after so many character. The
resulting word wrap becomes totally hosed when
the message is relayed to the Yahoo Group.

The workaround is to use formated HTML text
and this work with one issue. Every time i use
an apostrophe (') s the resulting output
is a broken character.

Con someone provide a tip on how to send
a 's to a Yahoo Group from Entourage

I'd try the following. Select AutoCorrect... from the Tools menu. Then
select the AutoFormat tab. Make sure that <<"Straight quotes" with "smart
quotes">> is NOT selected.

I would expect this to work in both HTML and plain text.

Can you post an example of what you're seeing?

What do you mean by "broken character"?

Are you sure this isn't something wrong with Yahoo's handing of mail
messages?

Ed,

Thank you, thank you!

I changed the Entourage default setting and my test message worked
perfect. This has been driving me crazy and I really appreciate the
tip.

I was not aware of the AutoFormat tab options

Now if Microsoft would give us the option to stop the addition of
a <CR> after x-characters in plain text it would be great.

End of Problem - thanks to all who responded to my help request

Make sure you suggest this to Microsoft. The solution is for Entourage to
support format-flowed.

I reported the issue under Office 2004 with hopes they would take
corrective action in 2008. My suggestion was not acknowledged and
was probably just ignored.

it must be some internal Microsoft thing as Apple's Mail an other mail
programs are okay. I have just had to learn to live with the non
standard Microsoft weirdness.

MVPs have been asking for this too so I know it's on the list, it's just the
list is long and the priority to add this is getting trumped by other
requests.

Keep asking. Squeaky wheel....

And very few suggestions, E-mails or other types of feedback are ever
acknowledged. I doubt even Microsoft could afford personal replies to
every message they receive.

This is an area where I feel they can improve with at least an automated
reply letting you know they received your message. Beyond that, unless
you're presenting something new and unusual like a bug that causes data
loss and they can't reproduce it, then don't expect acknowledgments.
