How to download Office 2003 SP2 without it being interupted

P

Peter Fielder

I have tried to download the Office 2003 service pack 2, but after about
three quarters of the process being completed the download stops with the
message "Download unsucessful". I have turned off the firewall on Norton
Antivirus but the program still fails. I am reluctant to turn off more
antivirus protection as it reports a number of attacks have been attempted.
Can anyone help?

Try searching through these messages, lots of folks are having this problem.

I had the same issue. I had just recently installed Office 2003 Student and
Teacher edition. I thought I had done a complete install - run everything
from my computer - but when I went to use Excel, it said a file was missing,
and please insert my CD. Which I did, and everything worked.

So while the CD was in the drive, I also went to the web site and tried the
SP2 update one more time. And it worked! Not sure why, but I thought I could
hear the CD drive being accessed during the install process. Hope this might
help.

Hi,

Don't know if this helps - if you are using download accelerator, disable
it. I read a fine "warning" line somewhere on the download page.

For the missing files, Office 2003 tend to put some files under MSOCache
during installation for the use of future repair and/or update. Of course,
one can select not to do so during the installation and in this case, Office
will ask for the original CD during certain update or repair operations.
