How to edit column data so that all but left most character remain

How can to convert a column of names to first initials (capitalized) followed
by a period?

Assuming the column contains only First and Last names separated by a space,
no prefix's, suffix's, initials, etc............

=UPPER(LEFT(A1,1)&"."&MID(A1,FIND(" ",A1,1)+1,1)&".")
