How to edit Microsoft Draw objects in Office 2003?

I have some old Word files that contain pictures that are Microsoft Drawing
1.01 objects (created with Microsoft Draw), and trying to open them for
editing in Word 2003 fails because Word doesn't seem to know what app to use.

Can't seem to find any info on this at the Microsoft Office help site. Any
suggestions appreciated.

Hi Kranky,

The 'fix' for this may depend on the availability
to you of older versions of MS Word that had
MS Draw rather than the MS Office Drawing Canvas
presently included in Word 2003. One workaround
is listed here
