How to edit text on button on link bar??

K

kyohan

How do I make a change in the text that is on one of the
buttons on a link bar? I have recently taken over the
webmaster duties and need to update a year on a button
that was already set up by previous person. I though I
might be able to right click on the button in question,
but the whole link bar highlights? Do I need to make a
complete new link bar?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Ok..that didnt work. all THAT did was let me find the
page, and if I right click, it will make me change the
PAGE naem. I don't want to do that. I want to correct an
incorrect number on the link bar. I thought it was a hover
button. But if I try to highlight just the icorrect
button, the entire button selection highlights. If i do a
right click on the highlighted stuff, it give me the
properties for a link bar. So that's why I assumed it's
not an individual button, but a whole bar. There has GOT
to be a way to edit incorrect spelling, etc, on link bars
and buttons? right??
thanks

Did you find the page in Navigation View and right click on the yellow box?
It sounds like you either opened the page or found it in Folders view or the
Folder list.

Yes sir, I did. But I don't think that's what I need to
do. See, I know what page it is on...I can use the
Navigation view and see the tree of folders. I can see the
yellow folder, but if I right click on the yellow folder,
and choose rename, then it renames the FOLDER. I don't
want to do that. I want to change the text on one of the
BUTTONS that's in that folder. Make sense?
I didnt set up this site. Someone else did, and I've
inherited the duties of maintaining it. I'm a newbie at
it, but feel pretty confident with all I've done so far.
But the editting text on a button or link bar is throwing
me for a loop! I can't find a way to edit just ONE number
(from a date) without making a whole new button or link
bar. Is there a way to edit text on buttons?
thanks!

Those are not folders in Nav View (from the menu use View Navigation)
Those are your pages and renaming them in nav view changes the Page Title - used by Nav View for Nav Bars and Page Banners

Nevermind! GEEZ! I think I figured it out! I clicked on
something that said add to navigation bar? or something to
that effect, saved it, and it worked! that may not be the
correct way to go about it, but for now, it'll work for me!
thanks for helping this newbie! I'm sure I'll be back for
more help as I continue to learn this stufff! :)

The yellow boxes in Navigation View are NOT folders - they represent pages.
When you rename, it changes the wording on links, buttons and banners
provided by the FrontPage navigation components. No actual files or folders
are renamed by the process.

So, renaming the yellow boxes in Navigation View is *exactly* what you need
to do.

Right-click and select Add to Navigation View.

For your original post: Re: How to edit text on button on link bar??
Check if you are using a theme. Text on buttons can be changed by selecting
Theme | Customize. (lots of options available)

The page name is what appears on the link bar.
