How to filter a report on a custom column?

Ok I am using visual reports in MS Project 2007 to create a resource usage
report. Because I am using a resource pool across multiple projects when I
run the report it includes all work across all projects. However sometimes
I need to create a project specific resource usage report and therefore I
have added a custom field to my project which has the project ID in it. I
want to filter the report on this custom column. How can I do this?

Hi Lehan,

For some reason replies are not getting updated to this newsgroup. So below
is the answer I posted awhile ago. Sorry if it's a duplicate:

Hi Lehan,

Instead of reporting against the resource pool file and attempting
to filter out projects, have you tried opening the sharer file with
the option "Do no open other files" and creating the visual report from
just that one file?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie,

Your suggestion worked great. Thanks a lot.

However Project ended up crashing at one point and recovered with a
corrupted password. Any idea how to open a project file with a corrupted
password?

Hi lehan,

I don't know what you mean by a corrupted password. Can you open
the file at all? What is the error message that you see?

Hi Julie,

the file opens but once I enter the password, it says password incorrect.
Although its the same password i used to open the file before it crashed!! It
seems like a 2007 bug since it did the same thing on a couple of other
project files. Any ideas?

There were some reports of trouble with password protected files
prior to the lastest service packs. Sadly, I don't think the SPs
fixed files that had already gone wrong. If you cannot open the
file without the password, you may have to resort to a back-up copy.
I encourage you to secure the files through something other than
passwords and check your service pack levels on 2007. The latest SP
is SP2.
