how to find the right width for varying monitors

John Gustafson

Thanks for answering a beginners question.

I've recently taken over the webmaster position
for our local dance club.

www.tcdancers.org

I've received comments that one has to scroll
over to the right (you can't see the whole page
in one screen). My monitor is a 21 inch set at
1280x1024 High Color (16bit) under Windows 2000.

Can someone view the above page and let me know
how it looks? The site was not originally created
in Frontpage. I incorporated into Frontpage and am
using the GUI (not direct html) to update it. In
an attempt to shorten the width of the tables, the
rightmost cell's background color has become a
lime green. (it's supposed to be beige). In Normal
view it shows up as beige but in preview it shows up
as a lime green. I viewed the html source and it
indicates FFFFCC (beige). On the GUI side, it shows
the the cell's background is beige. Why is it showing up
green? I wish I had looked at preview before transferring
to the web.

Thanks for any help you can give

Hi John,

Design in tables with the width set to 100% In that manner the page will
expand and contract based upon the visitor screen resolution.
