How to fix autocorrect so it doesn't hyperlink web and email

Boppy

Hi guys, I've followed the instructions in Word 07 which are the same
in Word 03 - but web and email addresses still get turned into those
ugly blue hyperlinks and I have to manaully remove the hyperlinks.

Please can anyone tell me how to get autocorrect to believe that I
really, really don't want to turn all web and email addresses into
hyperlinks?

Thanks in advance,
B

You don't say WHICH instructions you followed, so it's impossible to know if
this will be redundant. However, there often is confusion between the
AutoFormat and AutoFormat As You Type tabs in the AutoCorrect dialog. You
need to uncheck the "Internet and network paths with hyperlinks" option in
the AutoFormat As You Type tab.

To get there... Office button, Word Options, Proofing tab, AutoCorrect
Options button, AutoFormat As You Type tab.

If this doesn't work, then the problem likely is that your registry setting
(the Data key is the usual culprit) is corrupted and the changed setting is
not being interpreted correctly by Word. The usual solution is to close Word
and delete the Data key from the registry. Word will create a new one
automatically the next time it is launched.

Instructions on deleting the data key can be found here:

Go to that article, and scroll down to the section entitled Delete the Word
Data key.

Hi Herb, thank you very much - that did the trick.
