How to fix office 07, namely Word, if corrupted & ruining files?

N

Nihna

I have problems over the last six months with my new Office 2007. I have
regularly updated the program, but now everytime I save a file through Word
2007 or in the 2003 format and try to open it up later, it is corrupted and I
get nothing but 20+ pages of those little square boxes.

I am wondering if I need to return the office copy that I bought and
uninstall or if there is something I can do to fix it. If anyone knows what
could help, please let me know. Otherwise, I will just get rid of it, and
switch to a Mac. HaHa. But hey, if that works, this PC/Microsoft problem
thing is getting old.

Thanks

Hi Nihna,

What font and language are you using as your default in Word 2007?

In Office Button=>Print=>Print
be sure that you have a truetype capable and available printer selected as your default.

In Office Button=>Word Options=>Advanced=>General
turn on the 'confirm conversions...' choice, restart Word and then use
Office Button=>Open
(1) see if the 'Files of type' choice is set to something other than one for 'Word documents' and

(2) to then open a Word document and see if you get a popup dialog that Word is seeing the document as something other than a Word
document.

BTW, Office 2008:mac looks pretty cool in the silent movies <g>
