How to format internal mail using Outlook 2000

Our company uses Outlook 2000. For a reason I have still to fathom (as I
practice safe Hex), I am receiving a large amount of junk mail.

What I want to do is use the Organize utility to colour any internal email
that arrive a certain colour. In that way I will be able to see better at a
glance what is suspected junk and what is internal mail. There have been a
few occassions that I have deleted legit internal mail by mistake and I want
to stop this happening.

I have managed to colour mail that comes externally that I know about, but I
cannot do anything for internal mail (via the exchange server).

If I right click on any internal mail and select Options, everything is
greyed out on the details dialogue that appears, so there is absolutely
nothing that I can use to indicate that the message is to be coloured a
certain way. Unless I want to select EVERYONE in the whole company and give
it a rule, I see no way of doing what I want.

Does any kind soul out there have any ideas what I can do.

TIA
Martin

Hi - Outlook 2000 isn't terribly good at handling junk mail....have you
looked into a third party app such as SpamBayes, presuming you're allowed to
install software? Spambayes is free (google it) and will create two
folders - junk senders, and junk suspects. It can take some time to 'train'
it to handle the kind of mail you get, but it works very well for me and
many others. I think this might be a better answer than using color
tagging....

This is the problem that I have though. It is a work machine, so I cannot
just install anything I want. That is why I was hoping that I could use the
colouring of mail to tell what was definitely legit mail and make it easier
for me to manually delete the crap without losing internal mail as a result.

I will see if I can get the IT department to install something on my machine
to do what you say, but I am not going to hold my breath.

Thanks,
Martin
