How to Free up Space in Outlook 2002

I am using Outlook 2002 and there is 240MB mails kept in In-box. I delete
all the mails and compact the .pst file. However, the file size only changes
a little to 220MB. What can I do to release the space?

You have to delete, perminently, a significant amount of data, to have any
major impact on the file size.
220mb is a very small data file.
If you have that little space on your hd, that 220mb will make a difference,
then its time to consider an alternative approach.
Maybe post to your o/s group as to how to clean up your sys, to gain space
