how to get a really portable ppt file

hi, dear friends,

I have several mpeg files generated from matlab. To show those movies
in the ppt slides, I have to carry a bunch of files. One the ppt file
and the others mpeg files, which works but is really not elegant.
I do have some ppt files that my friends sent me. The movie are embeded
in the ppt file. I do not know how they make it.
Before I change the mpeg files into gif files, and insert them into the
ppt file. It works, to some extent. But it seems that the powerpoint
2000 has some very weird timing scheme that my movies are all messed
up. So maybe I really need an elegant way in making a really portable
ppt file? A quick search at this newsgroup did not give more
information. People did like what I did before, carrying a bunch of
file with the ppt file. I do not like the idea very much. Can somebody
help out of this?

Best Rgds.

Sorey but all media files other than a wav file are linked. (Gifs are not
videos) That is the design of PPT.

wav is a sound format, so that is not a very good idea for video.
The video support and portability for PowerPoint is a sad story. There
is poor support for video formats and the portability is not good at
all.

thanks. it seems that wav is not a good option.
Can I find some option in linux or apple? If MS does not have a good
solution.

In Apple's presentation tool Keynote you can import most video formats
into the presentation and even export it to .ppt for compability.

but will this ppt file really portable. I mean, will the movie still
embeded in the ppt file?
It seems that I am pretty stubborn in this issue now.
