How to get Custom Field displayed in My Task View

C

Chet

I am running Project Server 2007.

I've been able to create custom fileds and have them selectable for display
in the My Task area with one exception. If the custom field has a formula
associated with it the dropdown to select what can be displayed does not show
the custiom field. Any custom fields I have that either allow direct enttry
or are selectable using a custom table seem to appear OK. Only those with
formulas don't show up in the list.

Our desire is to replace the Start [Assignment] and Finish [Assingment]
fields with information stored in the Baseline1 Start and Baseline1 Finish
fields respectively. We are using the Baseline Start and Baseline Finish
already for there standard purpose. The Baseline1 dates are agressive target
dates we want the team to work to.

Based on the above I created a custom field called Target Start that uses
the formula [Target Start] = [Baseline1 Start].

The other option would be to have the Baseline1, Baseline2 ... information
available in the pulldown to select. However MS doesn't appear to allow this.

Any ideas?

I think you are out of luck. Project Server 2007 does not allow you to add
custom enterprise fields with a formula to the My Tasks page, nor does it
offer the Baseline1 sets of fields for selection. Sorry.

Thanks. That was my conclusion.

To get around this I ended up creating the custom fields and then copied the
Baseline1 information into the new fields using a macro in MS Project. After
saving and publishing the fields were displayed as well as the data.
