Submit it to the search engines.
Go to Google and check the Google for web masters section.

Tom,
Check out the PHP book at www.sitepoint.com (the short one not the two
volume "anthology") It was easy for my brain to absorb so it's bound to be
a total piece of cake for a "normal" person. :)

I find that a full page add in the New York Times does wonders!

Sorry.... I was up most of the night working on learning php and mysql and
I've had way to many cups of coffee today! :)

One way ( and not the only way or even the best way but the fairly easy
way ) Get the personal copy of Web CEO and use the optimization and
submission tools.

Or you can use the search engine submission tools at:

www.wcgawebs.com but that will cost you something! :)

Thanks Chris.......

I've looked at the sample chapters from that site.... the php and mysql book
but was kind of disappointed when the sample chapters were really just one
page then they would skip 5 pages and then skip 3 pages so it was really
hard to tell if the book was any good or not.

Is that the one you are talking about.... the php and mysql book?

I've also signed up for the devx.com premier club and I'm reading a couple
of books ( you can get up to 5 books a month) there 2 on php and mysql (one
from o'riely and one from que) and a couple of books on css. I got a free
month when I paid for one month ($9.99) and so far I've felt like it is a
decent way to go. In the past I've always been the type to want to have the
book in my hand so it has been an adjustment in that way.... but I'm getting
access to a LOT of books that right now I just don't have the money to pay
for.

Best to you........

SEO for Dummies by Peter Kent is a starting point. I gave it only 3 stars at
Amazon but buy it at a discount and then follow the marketing plan at
www.marketingexperiments.com. This site is a little cumbersome but if you
want to get noticed for selling a product or service go through the pain and
be patient.

Search engine submission is only a fraction of what you need to do to get
noticed with page ranking, especially for Google who places your site in a
sandbox after it takes a snapshot of it. You could remain in the sandbox for
6-8 months. You must have relevent content and lots of it. Incoming links
from other relevant sites are important. But extreme content and a non-stale
site is of upmost importance.

submit the site to search engines. Visit these such as altavista or google
etc (there are hundreds of search engines on the net) - look for their
instructions on how to submit your site.

Many of these actually 'visit' your site anyway and index the pages for
their database, so eventually it will be done automatically.
