How to get rid of just Office Outlook off my Office Pro

B

Books

I am tired of my Office Outlook Pro resetting itself to my default e-mail
program. So maybe I just need to delete this program. Looks like the only
way is to remove the entire program and not to select it when reinstalling.
If there is an easier way or if anyone can tell me how to not let this 2007
program from being my default mail program please tell me. It has nothing to
do with changint the setting in my control panel..that is already set and
doesn't keep it from being default...

2007 pro comes as one package..I went to that section and tried things but I
could not find a way to remove it there..please explain more...

Add/Remove Program
Select MS Office
Click "Change".
Deselect Outlook from the component tree.
Voila.

Please explain what to do once I am in the change area...there are three
options which I tried add/remove features but I can't see where to remove
Outlook or I just don't know how..please advise more in depth

Books

When I select change I have three options..add/remove,repair,remove...I
assume you mean add/remove...then I see the different Office 2007 items with
check marks..do I just push on the check mark because when I did it just
brings down different items and how the office was set up..hope that makes
sense

For Office XP/2002, and after clicking Change, you get:
- Add or Remove Features.
- Repair Office
- Uninstall Office

Is it different of Office 2007? If not, the choice is obvious. If
different, just what are those 3 options that you see?

Now you are in the tree. Items selected are included in the install.
Items not selected are not included in the install. So if you want
something removed then deselect that item. Go find Outlook in the tree
(you will have to expand the branches) and deselect it, then it will get
removed.

A "+" icon means a branch can be expanded. It is not a checkbox.
A *checkbox* determines if a component is/remains installed. It can be
fully filled in if all items under it are selected, or partially filled
in if only some items under it are selected. Deselecting the checkbox
will remove the component from the current install.

You have three options..add or remove features, repair or remove..I tried add
or remove features and I cannot see where to deselect...there are plus marks
but they just open to what was installed in that area.....can't see where to
remove...

Ok so I went to add or remove features and it opened installation
options..found Outlook under the tree but there are only plus's no place to
check or uncheck that I can figure out..under outlook there are these items:
with a plus is run from my computer,no plus installed on first use and with a
plus not available...still confused...

there is a gray or white button with a small triangle on it next to the +
sign - click it.
if you still can't find it, give me about an hour and I'll put it on
http://www.slipstick.com/Tutorials/ - there are enough people who have
problems that it needs a page. :)

Diane,
JFI I had a suggestion that in the area under Outlook to right click and you
will not available...once you make this not available Outlook won't work..so
now I have my old e-mail program back. But you also have to make sure in the
control panel under internet options/programs the mail program you want to
use is up because it went back to Outlook...if someone can figure out in this
area how to actually delete the Outlook portion of Office 2007 pro please let
me know...

JFI I was told to mark the items under Outlook to not available and now
Outlook mail does not open when I go to another site other than my Yahoo
mail. But you might have to change your interenet options in the control
panel/programs because mine had changed back to Outlook..not it seems to be
working but still haven't figured out how to actually delete it from that
area..no boxes to check...

B

Books

I finally got the answer I was looking for..after you go to Change and find
Outlook..open the rest and select not available on all the items listed..this
will prevent outlook from working but as far as deleting I haven't figured
that out yet...I also had to change my mail program in internet
options/programs from Outlook to Yahoo

The disk icon has the downward triangle. The + icon expands a branch.
So once you are at the branch level that you want to remove, click the
downward triangle to get the options to remove the component.

That you cannot figure out how to use this interface is evidence on why
you couldn't repair Outlook from becoming your default e-mail client.
From this discussion, it is become suspicious that you are a troll
pretending to be dumb or a child that needs to have their parents work
the computer. We aren't there. YOU will eventually have to decide to
actually commit an ACTION. Get so initiative, if anything other than
get a Dummies book at your local library.

Do it! Or don't and fix the original problem.
